The 7-inch iPad mini
Apple's late founder Steve Jobs once ridiculed a small tablet from a competitor by saying "The 7-inch tablets are tweeners, too big to compete with a smartphone and too small to compete with an iPad."

The mini tablet is important in the current socio-business scenario with the dynamic growth in the small-tablet market under the auspices of Phablet (phone-tablet). The market had been dominated by the like of Amazon's Kindle Fire, Nook HD, Google Inc.'s Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0.

Now Apple's own Mini enters the market with the launch of its iPad Mini, Apple has once again step on the throat of her rivals and letting them know that they have a pretty long way to go for them to be at par in the tablet war.

The iPad mini is beautifully sleek, pencil thin and very light; weighing just 0.31 kg. The screen of the iPad Mini is 7.9 inches (20cm on the diagonal, half as much as the full-size iPad) making it larger than the 7-inch (17.8cm) screens of most rival devices. It also sports two cameras, on the front and on the back, which is not case on most competitors. The screen of the iPad Mini has 1024-by-768 resolution at 163 pixels per inch (ppi), the same as the iPad 2 (but varied ppi) with fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating.

The display of the iPad mini is built on same LED backlight technology as previous generation iPads; its core is powered by Dual core A5 processor, 1.2-megapixel new FaceTime HD 720 camera grace its front while a 5 megapixel iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording gives the rare the needed eye. Browsing is blink speed kudos to the ultrafast advanced wireless (Wi-Fi) whose speed is twice faster than those of the previous generation iPads, the WiFi is dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with channel bonding support that gives up to 150 Mbps download speed. In the absence of WiFi, iPad mini supports fast cellular networks (with Nano SIM card just like iPhone 5) such as HSPA, HSPA+, and DC-HSDPA, including LTE networks.

The iPad mini can be used as personal hotspot to share high-speed data connection with up to five Apple devices over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology or USB. IPad mini comes in models as like the iPad series; 16, 32 and 64GB model and without card slot for additional memory.

The lightning connector that ditched the traditional 30-pin connector is also featured on the mini; the intelligent personal assistant ?Siri finds it use on iPad mini, providing a lot more assistance via voice command. The hard to crack iOS 6 runs on the iPad Mini thus supports all ?iPads only? applications on apple store. Its Safari browser is incorporated with iCloud thus users can keep their reading List, bookmarks, and tabs up to date across all their Apple devices automatically. The In-Switch feature between cameras during a call allows for a more flexibility FaceTime experience.

Battery life of the iPad mini really steams strong as the Built-in 16.3-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery gives up to 10 hours (claimed) of surfing the web on Wi-Fi (9 hours using cellular data network), watching video, or listening to music.

iPad mini continues Apple's environmental friendly practice with designs and features such as Mercury-free LCD display, Arsenic-free display glass, BFR-free, PVC-free and recyclable aluminium enclosure to reduce environmental impact
