The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest has called for the arrest and prosecution of the Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on Internal Security, Mr. Deji Adesokan (Jaruu) and the policemen, who allegedly assaulted and brutalised the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Ado-Ekiti Business Unit's Makerting Manager, Mr Julius Ige and Public Relations Manager, Mr Ilori Kayode Brown on Friday, last week.

Adesokan allegedly led armed policemen to the privates homes of the two PHCN Managers on Friday evening, assaulted them and forcibly took them to the Government House, Ado-Ekiti where they were kept until about 1.15am on Saturday simply because PHCN disconnected power supply to the Government House over a debt of N15 million.

Already, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) in Ado-Ekiti have threatened to go on strike if the company's management fails to take action over the brutalisation of Ige and Kayode Brown.

Reacting to the incident, the PDP said in a statement issued by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kayode Babade, that "it is now obvious that the Fayemi-led Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government is in support of the reign of terror being unleashed on Ekiti people by Adesokan (Jaruu) and his thugs, and if this continues unchecked, anarchy looms in the State."

"We in the PDP condemn this barbaric, bestial, uncivilized and oppressive action of Fayemi's government and call on the management of the PHCN in particular and all necessary security agencies in the country to make sure that Adesokan and the policemen involved in the act are brought to book.

"It should also be noted that this same notorious Fayemi's aide had in the past been responsible for the disruption of the State NUT and TUC elections and the invasion of the venue of the Ekiti Council of Youths programme by gun wielding thugs.

"All these and several other violent acts are what Adesokan had carried out in the past and it seems he (Adesokan) is larger than the laws of this country.

"It is also worrisome that Adesokan, who is neither a police nor SSS officer goes about fully armed with guns, and Ekiti people are asking; on whose authority does he carry guns?

"Let it therefore be known to all Nigerians that by Fayemi's government persistent human rights abuse, Ekiti is drifting towards anarchy and the earlier Adesokan and his thugs are brought to book, the better for the State and Nigeria as a whole."

"Therefore, Jaruu (Adesokan)and all the policemen that invaded the homes of the two PHCN Managers on the night of Friday, June 29, 2012 must be made to face the full wrath of the law," PDP said.
